Our Lady of Dolours Basilica church in Thrissur, popularly known as “Puthanpally” is the largest church in Kerala, also recognized as the third tallest church of Asia. Famous for the Indo-Gothic style of architecture showcased in the church, this is one of the most famous churches in south India. This massive church is said to be capable of accommodating around 30000 devotees at a time. One entering the church will be mesmerized by the architecture as well as the wall adornments. The church has a belfry that is imported from Germany, double-storey aisles, eleven altars, saint idols, murals, and many scenes from passages of scripture. The Bible Tower here is unique about this church- it has murals that depict Christ’s life.
