The antiquated village of Kallayi is a naturally scenic village set on the banks of the Kallayi River. Noted for its vast trade history in which the place even got recognized as the largest timber trading center in Asia, Kallayi was a haven full of timber mills during the 19th and 20th centuries. The place used to receive the floating woods like Teak, rosewood, etc from Nilambur and process them here for trading. Located around six km away from Calicut city, this village boasts one of the largest and historic iron bridges. It was built by the British, namely the Kallayi Bridge. One standing on the bridge can enjoy the adorable view of the sunset and take snaps of it.
