The only lake temple in Kerala, set in a rectangle-shaped emerald green pond, crafted with fine Kerala traditional architecture, is where the Ananthapadmanabhaswamy (same deity of Thiruvananthapuram Padmanabhaswamy temple ) had settled down, the fables say. Situated in a tiny village Kumbla near the famous Manjeshwaram Taluk, it is a must-visit pilgrimage center in Kasargod which belongs to the 9th century. The temple is renowned for its scenic beauty that is inherited from the surrounding hills as well as the unique crocodile namely “Babia” which only eats vegetarian food. Babia is considered the guardian of this temple.
Additionally, there is a myth-covered cave in the serene temple compound, which as per the local lore was the way using which the deity used to travel to and from Padmanabhaswamy temple.
And it is interesting to note that these two temples of Padmanabhaswamy are located on the two ends of Kerala- one in Kasargod and the other one in Thiruvananthapuram.
