Amidst one of the best trekking destinations in the Idukki district is the Cheeyappara and Valara Waterfalls. The waterfalls lie on the way to Munnar (42 km away) and are gradually becoming a tourist attraction. Water tumbles down seven decks of Cheeyappara Falls, creating a tremendous setting to admire. A viscous canopy of trees shields the region and there is a myriad of rare species of plants and animals. There is a lot of lush herbage surrounding the Valara Waterfalls, which makes it a satisfying picnic location.
