Hosdurg Fort, a prime tourism attraction in Kasargode district, has a Bakel Fort-like structure and was built centuries ago. Translated as ‘new fort’, this ancient military bastion has the stories of history dating back to the times of Kolathiri chieftains and Bednur Nayakas to reveal. The fort is believed to have been built by the Nayaka of the Ikkeri Dynasty. This “Nayaka fort” is set on a small hillock, of which a wall is besides NH 17. This fort accommodates a watch tower, modern cemetery along with round bastions. The caves which are seen nearby also captivate visitors.
