Kalady- The birthplace of 8th-century philosopher Adi Sankara- is now renowned as a major religious destination. Situated on the embankments of the pristine Periyar River, this village boasts Sringeri Mutt, Keerthi Sthambam, and Sri Ramakrishna Advaita Ashram as its major attractions.
Sringeri Mutt- This is a famed ashram that was built in memory of Adi Sankara. It is situated on the same land where his original house existed.
Keerthi Sthambam, otherwise known as the Pillar of Fame is a tall open structure located near Sringeri Mutt. The walls adorned with epigraphs of Adi Sankara’s life and the magnificent view offered from here are the major attractions of Keerthi Sthambam.
Sri Ramakrishna Advaita Ashram- Set on the proximity to the above two lies the monument that is dedicated to visionary Sri Ramakrishna.
