Kodanad Elephant Training Centre

On the pristine banks of Periyar River lies the Kodanad Elephant Training Centre- which is one among Kerala’s largest elephant training centres. The tiny village of Kodanad surrounded by the scenic high ranges was brought to spotlight after this training center was raised. Recently as part of an eco-tourism project namely Abhayaranyam, much of the wild creatures of this center got shifted to Abhayaranyam Mini Zoo in Kaprikkad, which is less than 3km away from Kodanadu.
