Koodalkadavu is a small hamlet located in the scenic district of Wayanad in Kerala, India. The Koodal Kadavu Check Dam is located in close proximity to the Palvelicham village and Kuruvadweep island. One of the unique and significant features of Koodalkadavu is this check dam built across the Banasura Sagar River, which is one of the largest earthen dams in India. The dam not only provides water for irrigation and drinking purposes but also offers a picturesque view of the surrounding hills and forests. Here a beautiful sight greets visitors as they view the river bulging at one end of the dam and flowing down the other side. From the bridge, the forest and surrounding not-so-high mountains come into view, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the natural surroundings.
The surrounding forests and hills offer opportunities for trekking, camping, and nature walks, and visitors can also explore the nearby waterfalls, including the Meenmutty Waterfalls, which is one of the most picturesque waterfalls in the region.
Another place of interest nearby – Anchukunnu- is situated 7 km southwest of Koodal Kadavu Check Dam.
