Koyikkal Royal Palace
The centuries-old royal palace of the Koyikkal Royal family is a visual treat for the ones interested in the rich heritage of Kerala. Built between 1677 and 1684, this palace is marked by its visitors for its amazing ambiance. It currently acts as a folklore and numismatics museum that exhibits many antique artifacts from old age. To be specific, the structure of this palace is especially famous for the iconic gabled roofs it has. Built as a double-story with fired clay tile roofs, this palace has numerous unique exhibits categorized into 12 varieties. Music instruments, household objects, folk-art pieces, manuscripts, ornaments, coin collections, and many other varieties are there, with the Chandravalayam being the one with utmost significance. This palace is the only place in Kerala where Chandravalayam is seen. Other than that, the Amaida coin (related to Jesus Christ), Karsha coins (6th-century coins), Rasi coins (the world’s smallest coins), Roman coins, and many unique coins that date back to more than 2500 years are also kept here realizing their heritage value.
Visiting Hours: From 09:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Open on all days except Mondays.
Entrance Fee: A nominal fee ranging from 20INR to 100INR. Camera is allowed (Chargeable).
