Pazhassi Raja Museum & Art Gallery
The Pazhassi Raja Museum & Art Gallery is a museum gem on the tourism map as well as the heritage locations in Kerala. Named after the “Lion of Kerala- the great Pazhassi Raja”, this museum is home to antique collections that will blow up the minds of each of its visitors.
Pazhassi Raja- one of the counted freedom fighters of Kerala, is credited for introducing Guerrilla Warfare in the hills of Wayanad as a response to British colonialism in Kerala which was becoming increasingly intolerable. It is currently being managed by the State Archaeology Department and is regularly maintained. This museum houses many culturally valued mural paintings, antique bronzes, ancient coins, models of temples, umbrella stones, dolmenoid cists, and megalithic monuments. Additionally, there are many internationally acclaimed paintings contributed by Kerala’s cherished artists, Raja Ravi Varma and Raja Raja Varma.
