The small town of Vattavada, located 45 km to the east of Munnar, is known for its terraced fields and valleys that grow vegetables. In fact, here some of Kerala’s finest crops are grown. This destination, 6500 feet above sea level, is popular with tourists throughout the year. It enjoys a mild climate and has ample sunshine all year round. The slopes of the colorful vegetable fields are interspersed with a variety of forest patches. Exquisite trees like Eucalyptus and Conifers grow in these regions. In addition to the plantations, rare butterfly species are also seen there in a wide range of sizes and colors fluttering across the landscape. Many famous destinations are accessible by trekking from Vattavada. The trek here takes you to other tourist hotspots like Kodaikanal, Top Station, Mattupetty, Kanthaloor, and Meesapulimala.
