Pakshipathalam
Pakshipathalam is a favorite tourist destination for adventurers, ornithologists as well as nature-lovers alike. Set at a height of 1700 m above sea level, it is situated on the Brahmagiri Hills. One can reach Pakshipathalam only after traveling around 18km through the dense forests either on foot or by vehicle. However you choose to go with, you must acquire permission from the Forest Department to start one’s journey here. And if a vehicle is the medium one chooses, then it is arranged by the District Tourism Promotion Council itself. This place is all covered with lush green meadows and hillocks, therefore it would be recommended to arrange a guide for the trip. Guides, as well as camping equipment, can also be arranged here on request to the District Tourism Promotion Council.
The place is an abode of various species of birds and wild animals. R rare birds like Asian fairy bluebird, paradise flycatcher, fronted chloropsis, etc are often seen roaming around. The watchtower here can be a good option if one wants a panoramic view of the area. Being equipped with binoculars is highly recommended here. Hence it will be a refreshing part of your journey here. Fables are such that this place was once a shelter or resting destination for ancient sages. Fables also speak up that the Garudan Kunnu, which is in the nearby area was once used for resting by the eagle king of birds namely Garuda. Interestingly, the shape of the mountain also matches the shape of the eagle. Bhuthathan Kunn, which is also nearby, makes up the list of major tourist attractions in this area.
