Fort Kochi’s Bastion Bungalow, situated near Vasco da Gama square was built-in 1667 and possesses an Indo-European style. As the name implies, this sea-facing Dutch heritage structure is situated on the site of the old Dutch fort’s Stromberg Bastion. A standard first-floor verandah in wood lines the front of the edifice, which merges into the circular structure of the bastion. While a grid of undercover tunnels has been rumored to run beneath the bungalow, none have been found. Currently, the bungalow serves as the official residence of the Sub Collector.
