Madayipara

With a surface area of 700 acres, this hidden hillock in the Kannur district blends the magnificence of nature and history. This picturesque locale also has a medieval fort built by the Vallabha King of the Kolothu dynasty called the Madayi Fort and a Jew Pond, the remnants of ancient Jewish settlers. Madayipara is a biodiversity haven with a variety of flora and fauna. Rare insect-eating plants grow there. Furthermore, the park contains hundreds of species of birds and butterflies, as well as a mirror-shaped pond. The religious significance is also attached to the site. With the Madayi Kavu that hosts Pooram festivals and the Vadukunda Shiva Temple, this is a popular pilgrimage site also.
