Museum of the Word
The Museum of the Word- the cluster of Museums- is a hidden treasure chamber of knowledge. Located in the tranquil village of Vembayam, in Thiruvananthapuram, this museum uniquely tells Bible stories. As an upcoming major tourism destination for history enthusiasts and museum lovers, it features several numismatic and philatelic galleries as well. Even though the museum is more associated with the Christian religion, it does not mean that it is purely a religious space. Rather this is a place where the transition and progress of humankind is celebrated.
An extensive collection of artifacts and memorabilia complements five different museum themes here. The International Bible Museum, home to around 300 Bibles in various languages, takes center stage. Another major attraction of this museum is the handwritten Bibles crafted from a wide variety of materials, including the vellum Bible (parchment made from animal skin), and the pocket Bible.
