Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary

This nature preserve at the foot of the Western Ghats on the Neyyar River offers a rare opportunity for tourists to see flora and fauna along with extensive trekking opportunities. It is incomparably beautiful here, as the flat meadows and fragile slopes make for an enchanting view. You’ll also find here a beautiful Watch Tower, a Deer Park, a Lion Safari Park, and a Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Centre. One of the most noteworthy components of this sanctuary is Neyyar dam, which is home to uncommon plants and animals, including the Asian elephant, tiger, leopard, slender loris, king cobra, travancore turtle, and various reptiles. Known for its pristine beauty and tranquility, the dam site is an ideal destination for tourists and hikers who enjoy exploring peaceful places. Boating is available in the reservoir so you can witness the beauty of nature closely.

History:

This popular picnic spot is a famous destination for nature loving tourists. It was built long back in 1958 by the Government of Kerala and it relates to both Madras and Kerala States.
